Israeli police cleared out settlers from 25 Gaza and West Bank settlements with much less hassle and violence than expected. It took a week. There were no deaths. Since 1967, 230 Israelis have been killed by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. About half of the deaths occurred in the last six years, during the current round of violence. In that period, Gaza terrorists fired  some 6,000 mortar shells, and 500 Kassam (home made) rockets into southern Israel. These caused some damage and a few deaths.  The Israeli army will still be in Gaza for another three weeks, destroying military installations, synagogues and other structures.
