The Ivory Coast's military accused MPIGO and MJP rebel groups apparently high "on alcohol and drugs" of killing 42 civilians in a village near the Liberian border, but there was no independent confirmation of the claim. French military peacekeepers positioned in the western town of Duekoue said two fleeing villagers had reported that "things could have been happening near Bangolo".
