- Rebel and government forces clashed in the central region of Monoko-Zohi, even as the country's new unity government and main insurgency called for an immediate end to hostilities. ECOWAS peacekeepers were dispatched to the scene that evening to investigate the incidents. The MPCI accused loyalist troops of attacking their positions in Monoko-Zohi and trying to get through to Vavoua, but the rebels claimed to have pushed them back to Belleville (30 kilometers from the cocoa-producing town of Daloa). The MPCI said it now had Belleville under control and an Ivorian army spokesman confirmed this claim. - Adam Geibel
