One of the best sources of information about conditions inside North Korea comes from UN aid officials who operate six food aid offices inside North Korea. The officials have noticed the continuing hunger in the north, as well as the changing attitudes among northerners. Over the last five years, northerners have become more aware of the outside world, and less afraid of the police state they live in. The police state itself has gotten less efficient, and more corrupt. Over a decade of famine, and the collapsing economy that caused it, has changed North Korea. The population is in shock, and looking for change.
