Under pressure from Turkey, Syria handed over seven Kurdish separatists, including one Kongra Gel leader (Hamili Yildirim). The men had been captured in July, as they tried to cross into Syria from Turkey. Syrian police had been trying to capture Yildirim since the 1990s, and and come close twice before. The Kurds were handed over about a week ago, but the move was just announced. Yildirim operated in Turkey and Syria, from bases in northern Iraq.
