Police found (outside the capital of Basilan island) the heads of two Filipino hostages killed by Abu Sayyaf. The body of a dead American hostage has not yet been found. The army reported that troops were slowly advancing towards the main Abu Sayyaf camp.  Elsewhere, troops killed seven NPA rebels in two incidents.
