The army and Abu Sayyaf rebels clashed on Jolo island, leaving at least 20 rebels dead. The MILF has said it will attack any American troops that stray into it's territory on Basilan. The Moslem rebels fear that the American special forces and US technology will give the Filipino forces another edge. But the rebels also see being able to kill or injure American troops as a propaganda boost.
