In the south, a clash with MILF rebels left two militiamen dead.

The government fears that the discipline in the MILF is so bad that some MILF factions may, for cash payments, provide support for al Qaeda and criminal gangs. Many undisciplined MILF units are already running criminal operations and using their membership in the MILF as a cover.
