 After a day of hard fighting, 500 MILF rebels were driven from a key highway in the south. The bodies of 13 civilians and five rebels were found, although locals reported that the rebels had carried off the bodies of other rebels, and many wounded. The rebels had taken several dozen civilians hostage, but all of these apparently escaped as the army rapidly advanced.
