  Recent attacks in the capital by terrorists, Moslem and leftist rebels and coup plotters have caused the government to set up a special 6,000 man army unit to guard against these dangers. NPA and Jemaah Islamiyah have been setting off bombs attacking or kidnapping individuals. Corrupt officials and wealthy families have recently tried to buy the loyalty of troops to stage a coup. The new unit, of course, would have to carefully select its troops and officers to insure loyalty and reliability.
