  In the last year, more than a hundred people have been kidnapped for ransom. The Chinese-Filipino community has been particularly hard hit. Since this few percent of the population runs (or owns) a much larger portion of economy. A mass exodus of this segment of the population would hurt the country. This became a major issue with the murder of  a Chinese-Filipino Coca-Cola executive, yesterday,  who had earlier been kidnapped.
