Some of Zimbabwe strongman Mugabes thugs (the so-called green bombers, nicknamed for the color of their fatigues) have defected to South Africa. The report says Mugabes toughs claim they have been beaten and starved by their leaders. In interviews some of the defectors described how they had attended training camps where they received instruction in how to kill and maim members of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). One militiaman (man? the report gave his age as 15) said that sometimes the green bombers were given specific names of people to torture and kill. (Austin Bay)
