Ethiopia reported that it will send a thousand soldiers to Burundi to participate in the African Union peacekeeping operation. Initial contingents will arrive around October 1. The Ethiopians should be one of the more reliable forces in Burundi. It will depend, of course, on leadership and the Rules of Engagement (ROE) under which the reinforced battalion operates.
