Burundi marked it's 10th anniversary of the outbreak of civil war. Since 1993, over 300,000 people (mostly civilians) have died, more than half a million Burundians have been internally displaced while another 500,000 had to flee to neighboring countries. A succession of ceasefire pacts and a power-sharing government have failed to completely solve the problems and stop the fighting. - Adam Geibel
