After three weeks, 23 Filipino sailors were released, along with their ship, after being held for ransom. German and Spanish warships escorted the ship away from the north coast of Somalia, where armed men had boarded the cargo ship three weeks ago. The Philippine government said no ransom was paid, but no one revealed any details of how the release of the men was arranged, except to say that warlords ashore "were helpful."
