The LTTE kept up the pressure on army troops defending south of Elephant Pass. The daily battlefield losses are running at 20-40 dead and many more wounded. The LTTE is determined to retake the Jaffna area and has warned Tamil populations in the area to move away from the vicinity of army bases (lest they get hit by rebel artillery or ground attacks.)
