  In the center of the island, rebels set off a landmine against a bus, killing seven civilians and wounding another fourteen. This incident contributed to the existing public wariness over LTTE offers for unconditional peace talks. The feeling is that the rebels are taking a beating and will try to use peace talks to get the military pressure off them so the rebel forces can rebuild.
