: On April 27 the Sudanese government (Khartoum) claimed its troops had retaken the town of Menza in Blue Nile state. On April 29 the SPLA said that it had seized control of three towns in Blue Nile state: Areden, Belansamensho, and Agoro. The SPLA claimed that Sudanese government military forces had withdrawn to the town of Al-Damazeen (Blue Niles capital). On April 30, a Sudanese Army spokesman denied the SPLAs claims. The spokesman said that the three towns the SPLA claimed to have taken were ungarrisoned.
