The government accuses Eritrea of sending rebels troops and weapons for a new rebel offensive in eastern Sudan. The government has seen the rebels using weapons (artillery and tanks) and equipment the rebels have never had before. 

The government has agreed to restore the ceasefire in the south, where the rebels have been advancing despite vigorous government military operations. The peace talks are to resume on October 14th.
