In southern Sudan, Ugandan rebels (the LRA, or Lords Resistance Army) attacked several villages and killed over 40 people. The villagers were driven out of their homes and the rebels took over. The attacks occurred in areas not controlled by army troops, but by members of various Sudanese rebel groups. The peace deal between the southern rebels and the government
