On 2 May, the Ugandan government said that 4,000 abducted children were to be flown back from the Sudan. James Kaija, a former UDPF intelligence officer, told the press that one captive children was a wife of Joseph Kony, leader of the rebel Lord Resistance Army (LRA).
On 3 May, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. (1300-1500 GMT) UPDF soldiers mounted an assault on LRA positions in the Agoro mountains of southern Sudan. During the first day fighting, the rebels lost 18 fighters. The UPDF were continuing the pursuit of the LRA in southern Sudan.
Unfortunately, at least 300 civilians were killed during the week of 26 April - 3 May by the LRA in South Sudan. The figure includes 60 mourners in a funeral procession gunned down by the LRA on the 26th, after being forced to cook and eat the corpse they were about to bury. - Adam Geibel
