Denmark plans to reorganize its armed forces by 2004. Forces will be cut from 58,000 to 46,000, but more troops will be assigned to NATO formations. The scout platoon assigned to the Rapid Reaction Corps will be increased to a company. The 4,600-man brigade assigned to international peacekeeping missions will get new armored vehicles and its 51 Leopard-2A4s will be upgraded to Leopard-2A5s. The Danish Division assigned to NATO Multinational Corps Northeast will gain a 4,500-man logistics group, and the Corps itself will gain a 2,000-man rear area security command.--Stephen V Cole
