Indonesia is continuing its reform of the intelligence community. The new civilian agency BIN has been elevated to cabinet rank and given the right to supervise the other intelligence agencies. The BIN has been expanded by new President Megawati to take over the domestic intelligence functions of military intelligence, the national police, and the Attorney-General's office. This includes the most politically-charged of all Indonesian intelligence functions -- investigating officials accused of corruption.--Stephen V Cole
