Members of oil stealing gangs, in the Delta region, have begun turning in their weapons for cash. An assault rifle brings $1,800. While this will get some of the young men out of a life of crime, others will go buy another weapon and be back in the crime business. In fact, the largest gang, the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force, has not turned in any weapons, while smaller gangs have offered up 600 weapons so far.
