- Despite the fact that the Army Surgeon General predicted 9,700 wounded, Britsh Army plans for the Gallipoli Landings presupposed only 3,000 wounded, of whom 10-percent were assumed to be serious; the actual count for the first week of the operation (April 25-May 2, 1915), was over 15,000.
- At the Battle of Zenta (Sep 11, 1697), 30,000 Hapsburg troops under Prince Eugene of Savoy lost 428 of their number, while inflicting over 30,000 casulaties on the 100,000 strong Turkish army under Sultan Mustafa II.
- During George S. Patton's operations across Northwestern Europe during the 281 days from August 1, 1944, through 8 May 1945, artillery units of his Third Army fired some 5,870,843 rounds, an average of 20,892.7 per day.
- In September 1939 the German Army was using four types of tanks, 100 types of trucks, 52 types cars, and 150 types motorcycles..
- During the War of 1812 it was common for about 12-percent of the perssonell of a unit to be on sick call at any particular time.
- In the late Sixteenth Century the cost of a single 24-pounder cannon, 1,000 florins, was equal to that of 100 muskets, or 33 sets of pike-and-armor, or 24,000 daily rations, or about 36,000 pounds of bread, or a day's pay for 4,000 troops.
- To prevent officers from sneaking off to get in a few holes, the official instructions for U.S. Fleet Landing Exercise No. 4, held in Puerto Rico in February 1938, flatly stated that the Aguirre Central Golf Course was "Off Limits."
